How an on-grid solar system works
A grid-connected system works in parallel with the TNB grid. Your solar panels generate electricity during the day, and you use your own solar energy first, so you buy less power from the grid.
Under Malaysia’s Solar ATAP scheme, the successor to NEM 3.0 in effect since January 2026, energy exported to the grid is offset against your bill.

What is Solar ATAP?
